Swing on by the Arcohe Fireworks booth today posted at Herald Park. Two of our favorite teachers, Mrs. Friend and Ms. Long will be working our booth from 2pm-8pm. They would love to help you select all your fireworks for the 4th!

As we wrap up our final week of Summer School we would like to share some of the fun our students have had. The boot campers have been busy learning about camouflage, emergency medical skills, map reading and communication, plus some fun with gauntlet challenges like plank and push ups along the way! Ms. Moore's class has been enjoying dinasour eggs and drawing upside down. Ms. Funks class has been learning all about making yummy treats!

It's almost that time! Make sure you are supporting your Arcohe 5th Graders with this fundraiser and mark your calendars to visit us! Opening day is June 28th.

Congrats to another one of our retirees Ms. Valenzona. We wish you the best in your next chapter.

Today we would like to celebrate Mrs. Barnes and her 25 years of service at Arcohe. Congrats to your next chapter of retirement! You will be missed greatly!

This next soon to be retiree has worked for Arcohe school district for 35 years. WOW! Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Salfen and wishing her a happy and fulfilling next chapter of retirement.

If you have been apart of Arcohe family over the past 2 decades, this happy office face may look familiar to you. Our very own Mrs. Denielle Allison is starting a new chapter of retirement this next year. Join us all in wishing her the very best in this fun new adventure!

We are so beyond thrilled our Coach Tony was recognized for all his dedication to our school by Sacramento County. See below snips from the article written about him.
Each May, Sacramento County honors older adults who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. This year, five inspiring individuals have been recognized with the Five Over 50 Volunteer Award, presented by the Sacramento County Adult and Aging Commission. These honorees exemplify the power of volunteerism and the role older adults play in building stronger communities.
The 2025 award recipients, representing each of the County’s five districts, were formally recognized during the May 20 Board of Supervisors meeting.
District 5: Tony Rutchena
Tony Rutchena brings energy and enthusiasm to his volunteer work with students at Lake Canyon Elementary and Aroche School.
“I had an unhappy childhood in elementary school, long story short. As an adult, I said you know what – no child should be unhappy and that’s why I’m here,” Tony said
As an instructor for chess, checkers, dominoes, sports and gardening, Tony plays a big role in school-wide and after-school activities. Tony says his theme is “living the dream”, something he encourages the kids to do by finding what makes them happy.
“I think at the end of the day, we should all try to give back in some kind of way. Everybody has their own niche, and once you retire or even if you’re not retired and you’ve got a lot of time on your hands, I think giving back is a good thing. It makes you feel good about yourself, it makes others feel good,” said Tony.
As Sacramento County celebrates Older Americans Month, the Five Over 50 Volunteer Award winners remind us that age is no barrier to meaningful contribution. These five volunteers are not only role models in Sacramento County – they are also a reminder that when you combine your passion with helping others, you can make a lasting impact.
