Arcohe Families,
On Thursday, July 16th, the Arcohe Board of Trustees held a meeting to discuss the model for reopening schools in the fall. While the current recommendation from the Sacramento Public Health Department is for schools to open in a distance learning format initially, the board was hesitant to go this route knowing that in-person instruction is the preferred method. To allow for more time to weigh this decision and to look at alternatives, the board has given me direction to explore an alternate calendar in which school would start after Labor Day. This calendar will be presented to the board on Friday, July 24.
At this point, school is still on track to open on August 10, but this start day MAY CHANGE based on the decision of the board at the July 24th board meeting. Once a decision has been made, I will notify families with details and the calendar we will be using.
It was also decided at the board meeting last night to cancel the Summer School option we had extended to some families. We apologize for having to do this with such short notice but with uncertainly of the current situation, we did not feel like we were in the position to move forward with Summer School at this time.
I will keep you posted on future developments. Thank you and be well!
Respectfully,
Troy Miller
Superintendent/Principal
