Welcome from the Superintendent

Thank you for visiting our Teacher Bios page!  As teachers begin to create their web-sites, you will be able to access them from here.  Until then, enjoy the short biographies of our incredible teaching staff!

Mrs. Susan Applegate        applegate@arcohe.net

I was born and raised in Sacramento.  I moved to Galt about 13 years ago with my wonderful husband and son.  I have two dogs, an Aussie and a Golden Retriever.  I enjoy teaching, traveling, and reading.

I earned an English degree from CSUS, a Multiple Subject Credential, and Supplemental English Credential from CSUC, and a CLAD Certificate from USD.  I also had the privilege of being the BTSA mentor for our district.  I have been teaching for over 15 years now, and I can't think of a better profession in which to work.  Most of the years, I've taught either first or second grade.  I can't say I have a favorite grade because each grade has its own challenges and rewards (mostly rewards).  I look forward to seeing my students achieve their academic goals.

Mrs. Jeri Barnes       barnes@arcohe.net

I have lived in beautiful downtown Herald since 1986 with my husband and our daughter who is a proud Arcohe graduate.  I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and my teaching credential at National University.   I started here at Arcohe in 1999 and have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th grades.  I am a supporter of youth sports and 4-H.  My family and I enjoy outdoor activities such as boating on the delta, camping in the mountains or at the ocean and riding motorcycles.  Stop by sometime and see what’s shakin’ in my room.

Mrs. Annette Benedict        benedict@arcohe.net

This is my 14th year at Arcohe School.  I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, with a majority of that time in 3rd grade.  I have a Masters of Science in Education, a BA in Psychology, hold a Special Education teaching credential, and have a CTEL certificate.  I reside in Galt with my husband and  two children.

Ms. Wendy Chevrier           chevrier@arcohe.net

I have been at Arcohe since 2002.  I’ve taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.  I have a daughter, Alice Lenore, who was born in February of 2007.  I recently moved back to Lodi after living in Sacramento for almost ten years!  I have two pets: one rabbit (Mimsy) and one cat (Mafu).  I was born and raised in Lodi, graduated from Lodi High School, and attended Sacramento State where I earned a BA in Childhood Development and my teaching credential.  I enjoy reading, movies, and collecting Alice in Wonderland memorabilia.

Mrs. Ginger Edwards         edwards@arcohe.net

I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, as well as a degree in Environmental Studies from Sonoma State University. I have a Specialist Credential in Reading from the University of La Verne, and a CLAD Certificate from National University. I have taught for more than 20 years, with most of that time in kindergarten and first grade. I feel lucky to work with young children, and truly enjoy seeing them develop into students.

Mrs. Peggy Frizzell                frizzell@arcohe.net

I’ve been teaching at Arcohe since 2002. I’ve enjoyed teaching third, fifth, and now fourth grade with some great students and awesome colleagues. I live in Sacramento with my husband Will, Arcohe alumni himself, and our five year old daughter, Sofia. A few years ago, I earned my Master’s Degree in Art Instruction and have enjoyed using that degree to create and maintain the Oasis Art Room at Arcohe. Most of my time is spent driving...but when I’m not on the road, I’m hanging out in the backyard watching Sofi get dirty with the 100-pound dog and two obnoxious cats.

Ms. Maggie Goss    goss@arcohe.net

This is my 8th year at Arcohe, my 14th in the teaching profession.  I have a bachelors degrees in French, History, and English; as well as a masters in Education. I recently earned the CLAD credential from CSUS.

Although, I have taught a variety of grade levels, I find great joy in teaching children to read.  I have lived in 6 states and 2 foreign countries.  This rather nomadic life style (and the fact that my two grown children live in distant states) has spawned a real love of travel.

Mrs. Randa Gregorio           gregorio@arcohe.net

This is my 10th year teaching at Arcohe School. I taught 6th grade for 7 years and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math & reading for 2 years. Every year brings new challenges and excitement at Arcohe, but one thing never changes and that is the wonderful support given by the community of Herald/Wilton/Galt that makes teaching at Arcohe GREAT!

Mrs. Meg Mulherin                mulherin@arcohe.net

This is my 14th year teaching at Arcohe. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades as well as Title I.  I received my education at Sacramento State University.  I was born and raised in the mountain community of Bishop, CA and have lived all over the state.  I have been a member of the Herald community for over 20 years.  My family consists of my husband and two sons (both of whom attended Arcohe from K-8th grade!).  We now live on a small ranch locally where we enjoy our horses, cattle and the country life.

Mrs. Leslie Myers              myers@arcohe.net

I teach students with special needs at Arcohe.  I am married and have one daughter.  Teaching is my passion. It is exciting to see students learn and grow in academic and social skills.  My hobbies include church activities, singing, dancing, and playing with my daughter.  I also love to go on road trips over the weekend with my family.  I especially like going to the beach for the day.

Mrs. Carol Reller        creller@scoe.net

I graduated from Sacramento State University with my Masters in Speech/Language Pathology.  I then worked in the Elk Grove District for 16 years.  My first 11 years was spent teaching in a special day classroom for children with severe disorders of language.  I then became an itinerant speech and language specialist for 5 years.  The opportunity arose for me to become the Speech and Language Specialist at Arcohe.  This was appealing because I live in this community and I have had my 3 children attending Arcohe for the past 15 years.  I have been here 6 years now and enjoy working with our special education population.

Mrs. Lori Salfen     salfen@arcohe.net

As a fourth generation to the Galt/Herald area and the daughter of an educator, it was only natural that I became part of the Arcohe School Staff. I joined the teaching staff of Arcohe in 1990. I taught fourth grade from the fall of 1990-2000. It was in the fall of 2000 that I saw a need for consistency in the special education program, so I began teaching special education until 2003. The fall of 2003 brought another change in my career as an educator, as I became the Principal of Arcohe School until 2011. In the fall of 2011, I am rejoining the teaching staff and looking forward to teaching sixth grade Math, Science, and Physical Education.

Mrs. Jenise Satoshige satoshige@arcohe.net

My name is Jenise Satoshige and I am teaching first grade this year.  After graduating from Lodi High School, I attended San Joaquin Delta College and California State University, Sacramento where I earned my B.A. degree in Liberal Studies.  I received my California Clear Teaching Credential from C.S.U.S. and am C.L.A.D. certified.  It has been my pleasure to teach in the primary grades at Arcohe School since 1991.  My husband and I have two children and I feel that being a parent has given me an even greater appreciation of children.  I enjoy working with the children, staff, and parents of Arcohe School.

Mrs. Candace Sauter     sauter@arcohe.net

My name is Candace Sauter and I teach kindergarten.  I received my B.A degree as well as my teaching credential from San Jose State University and then started teaching in the Bay Area.  After I got married, my husband and I decided to relocate to Elk Grove and I began teaching at Arcohe.  I have been teaching here at Arcohe since 2001, and enjoy working with this close knit community.  I live with my husband, my two kids and my wiener dog.  My hobbies include scrapbooking, photography and adding to Disney collection.

Mrs. Paula Selby                  selby@arcohe.net

Originally from North Dakota, I moved to California and grew up in Sacramento.  After graduating high school, I got married, had my daughters, then wised up and went to college.  I graduated from CSUS, and recently completed my 20th year of teaching.   I enjoy a variety of activities, such as ballroom dancing, yoga, running, and quilting.  So, don’t be surprised if some of these things find their way into your student’s school day every now and then.

Mr. Casey Vandenburg         vandenburg@arcohe.net

Mrs. Debbie Valenzona      valenzona@arcohe.net

I have been teaching at Arcohe School for 18 years. In addition I teach English as a Second Language class at American River College. I have taught the 3rd, 5th and 6th grades at Arcohe during my stay. I live in Elk Grove and have two children. I have 2 BA degrees in English and Liberal Studies. I received my MA degree in 2003 from CSUS, Sacramento.

Mrs. Wendy Walker    walker@arcohe.net

I graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 1990 with a degree in Culinary Arts and traveled a great deal as a chef. I even had the opportunity to work at Walt Disney World! I decided that it wasn’t the career for me and went back to school for my special education credential and Masters of Education degree from the University of the Pacific.  I started working at Arcohe in 2000. My husband, son Cyrus, Steve the dog, Poe and Nemesis our two cats keep me very busy in Elk Grove. I am interested in drawing, reading, scrapbooking and yoga. I look forward to having a rocking school year!

Ms. Moira Warmerdam               warmerdam@arcohe.net

After nine years of being a legal secretary, I went back to school to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies at CSUS – something I had wanted to do since 4th grade.  It’s hard to believe that my numbers at Arcohe exceed 25 years and I am rounding out a wonderful teaching career by teaching a 3rd grade class this year for the first time.  It will be a learning curve for my students and me, but a welcome one.  Along those same lines, I am now proudly able to say that I have taught at every teaching level on the west campus, plus a K-1 once upon a time.  One piece of trivia I would like to share with you is that I met Pope John Paul II at his summer home in Gendolfo, Italy.  Hobbies I like to partake in are:  singing, bowling, reading, tole painting, swimming, and, of course, experiencing thrill rides at theme parks.

Ms. Donna Wood                  wood@arcohe.net

I received my B.S. and M.A. from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.  My teaching credentials allow me to teach in Illinois, Missouri, California and the province of Ontario.   I started working for Arcohe in August of 2001 where I have taught grades 5th through 8th.
